| Objective: The feasibility of using Gd-DTPA as contrast media for Computer Tomography Angiography in inpatients contraindicated to iodine.Material and methods: 44 patients was performed CTA of the head which is essential to them,22 patients made up of trial group:use Gd-DTPA(0.5mmol/ml) as contrast agent. another group use Iopromide (300mg/dl) Measure CT attenuation in the brain vascular before and after injection of contrast media .Then evaluate the displaytion of vessels branch as 1,2,3,4 degree and also the quality of the reconstructed images as by two neuroradiologists. T-test or fishers exact test was peformed before conclusionResult: In the trial group ,the attenuation of the brain vessels is 35.41±7.07Hu in the plain scan.;and is117.77±25.28Hu after injection of Gd-DTPA,There is significant differenece in the attenuation of the brain vessels before and after Gd-DTPA injection (p=0.000) . In the trial group,the increasing attenuation in the brain vessels is 82.37±25.61Hu,but the increasing attenuation in the contrast group is 212.48±55.63Hu, there is also significant differenece in the contrast attenuation between the two groups.The number of patient in the trial group who display 1,2,3,4and more grade vessels is 22,22,21,15;but in the contrast group is 22,22,22,21,the presence of vessel branch between the two groups has significant differenece(p=0.0459),The number of patient in the trial group whose reconstructed images evaluated as excellent,good,general,inferior degree is 13,6,2,1;but in the contrast group is 21,1,0,0,the quality of the reconstructed images has significant difference (p=0.015) too. There is no significant differenece in the delay time of the two groups(p=0.818).Conclusion:Gadolinium-enhanced CTA for vessels of the head is technically feasible and is diagonistical in patient with contraindication to iodone. Limitation of this approach include lower vascular contrast attenuation and inferior quality of reconstructed image .
