RF therapy is a new modality with great prospect. Electromagnetic wave of 100kHz-3MHz is used to establish a temperature field that cures or modifies the target tissue. Long-term clinical data show that this modality is minimally invasive, efficient, and safe. With these advantages, radiofrequency therapy has gained wide application in many fields in recent years. For the treatment of neuropathic pain, the target area and therapy temperature can be precisely controlled with radiofrequency modality. The pain can be eliminated or alleviated and at the same time ,functional senses can be reserved to the maximum extent.Development of miniature radiofrequency therapy device is quite meaningful in practical application since it facilitates the operation and is cost-effective and efficient. A design of compact radiofrequency device for neuropathic pain is proposed in this thesis. Embedded system based on ARM7 is adopted as the control center andμC/GUI is transplanted for the control of LCD. The touch panel together with LCD provide a user friendly interface. As the hardware core component, the radiofrequency amplifier is critical to the whole system, the principle, architecture and parameter measurement of which are also outlined and illustrated. Taking into account the characteristics of the amplifier and the therapy target, an improved three-step PID algorithm is developed for the temperature control. Presently, hardware design and realization, software programming and system integration have been finished. Preliminary experiments show that the device functions can meet the expected specification and the precision of temperature control algorithm is within 1 degree.
