PURPOSE: To observe the correlation of dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) appearances, and microvessel density(MVD) , vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) expressions, and the blood stasis syndrome in breast cancer. According to evaluate its prognosis and guide treatment of comprehensive therapy of comprehensive therapy of Chinese traditional and Western medicine.MATERIALS AND METHODS: From Oct. 2006 to March. 2008, 30 enrolled patients with breast cancer confirmed by operation and pathology were reviewed. Obtain the time-signal intensity curve(TIC) and the parameters on DCE-MRI. Evaluate preoperation blood stasis degrees. MVD and VEGF expression were detected by immunohistochemical in 30 operative pathologic specimen of breast cancer. Statistically , analyze the correlation of DCE-MRI appearances (tumor size, shape, spicular signs, enhancement patterns, DIC type, Emax/1, Tmax, V) with MVD, VEGF and blood stasis syndrome in breast cancer by SPSS11.RESULTS: 1. Correlation of DCE-MRI with MVD in breast cancer: There is a positive correlation and significant difference in statistic between Emax/1 and V. There is no difference in statistic between the other DCE-MRI appearances and MVD.2. Correlation of DCE-MRI with VEGF in breast cancer: There is a positive correlation and significant difference in statistic between V and VEGF expression. There is stronger positive rate in V≥1.5%. There is no difference in statistic between the other DCE-MRI appearances and VEGF. 3. Correlation of DCE-MRI with the blood stasis in breast cancer: There are no differences in statistic about the DCE-MRI appearances in blood stasis syndrome and additional syndrome. Most of the 8 cases with blood stasis appears irregular shape, nodular shape, margin enhancement, heterogeneous enhancement, IV-type TIC.CONCLUSIONS: There is correlation of DCE-MRI appearances with Angiogenesis and vascular permeability in breast cancer. It responds to the blood stasis degree of breast cancer. According to the result, to evaluate its prognosis and guide treatment of comprehensive therapy of comprehensive therapy of Chinese traditional and Western medicine.
