ObjectiveKeratoconus was a kind of rarely occur ectasia disease in patients who were juveniles. It was a diffcult problem on the optical correction, treatment and control for keratoconus patients. We studied the index of corneal topography to instruct the earlier diagnosis and to guide the RGPCL chocie and fitting. All kinds of RGPCL were observed on both correction effect and visual quality.Methods191 keratoconus patients(366 eyes)which were from our optical cener 2002-2006 years were measured by corneal topography wavefront aberattion and contrast sensitivity before and 12 months 18 months after the fitting of RGPCL.The patients included both eyes 175,simple eyes 16,mild 114 eyes, moderate 193 eyes and sever 31 eyes, fitted with spherical surface 102 eyes, unspherical surface 237 eyes, special design of keratoconus 27 eyes, parallel deserved 98 eyes, there points deserved 241 eyes, two points deserved 27 eyes.ResultsIt showed that the index of corneal topography was significant decreased after RGPCL wearing in all groups.special in moderate and severe patients. There was no serious eyes complication in all groups. The corneal implant was transparent in PKP patients, there was no reject reaction.Corrected vision 0.95 averaged. There was great statistical significance.ConclusionProper RGPCL fitting provides an effective and safe method in patients with irregular cornea. It could reshape the form of keratoconus, make corea spherical and regular and finally, increase visual acuity and contrast sensitivity.
