Camellia oleifera Abel,the flowers of Camellia oleifera Abel in theaceae,it was widely used as a Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat gastrointestinal hemorrhage, hemoptysis,epistaxis,bloody stool,uterine bleeding,scald,etc.The petals of C.oleifera are used in Chinese folk medicine as anti-asthmatic agents. However,Few reports about chemical and active constituents of this plant can be found in literature.In order to understand its chemical constituents and find anti-asthmatic compounds,the chemical constituents of the ethanol extract of Camellia oleifera Abel were investigated.Nineteen compounds were isolated by column chromatographic methods using silica gel,Diaion HP-20,ODS,Sephadex LH-20 and HPLC.On the basis of chemical evidence and spectral analysis,the structures of fourteen compounds were elucidated as oleanic acid(1),β-sitosterol(2), Kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnoside(3),2-hydroxy isovalerianol(4),dehydrovomifoliol(5) kaempferol(6),kaempferol-3-O-(3",6"-di-O-E-p-coumaroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside(7), Kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucoside(8),Querceitin-3-O-α-L-rhamnoside(9),kaempferol -3-O-kaempferol-3-O-(2",4"-di-O-E-p-coumaroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside(10), Querceitin(11),6R~*,9S*-vomifoliol(12),6R~*,9R~*-vomifoliol(13), 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid(14)Among them,compound 4 was assigned as a new compound.Compounds 1-5,7-14 were isolated from Camellia oleifera for the first time.In conclusion,this research has provided rational and experimential basis for the further development of this drug.
