Objective: To observe the curative effects and safety of Rocal pulse therapy combined with low calcium dialysis in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism undergoing haemodialysis. Methods: 46 patients were divided into 3 groups according to the level of parathyroid hormone (iPTH). Patients in Group A were with 300pg/dkiPTH≤600 pg/dl, receiving orally Rocal 0.5-1ug, two or three times one week; Patients in Group B were with 600pg/dl1000pg/dl, receiving orally Rocal 24ug, two or three times one week. The pills were taken in the evening after haemodialysis. The concentration of Ca2+ in dialysis fluid was 1.25mmol/l. The dosage of Rocal was adjusted based on the level of iPTH. The serum levels of iPTH, alkaline phosphatase (AKP), calcium(Ca2+), phosphonoum(P3+) and albumin(Alb) were measured at baseline and after therapy. Results: There were no significant difference on serum levels of Ca2+, Alb,AKP between baseline and after treatment (P>0.05). The serum levels of P3+,Ca×P, iPTH decreased significantly(P<0.05). And the above levels of patientsin Group A or Group B decreased more early and fastly. Conclusion: Rocal pulse therapy combined with low calcium dialysis candecrease the level of iPTH in patients undergoing hemodialysis with secondaryhyperparathyroidism. There was few incidence of hypercalcemia.
