Objective: To investigate the situation of maternity service in Hunan province and the inflence of maternity service on the health of lying-in mothers and their newborn infants. To explore the influential factors of lying-in mothers and their newborn infant's health with maternity service. In order to provide basis for mataining and improving the health of lying-in mothers and their newborn infants, provide reference for maternity service training.Methods: Retrospective convenient sampling was used in this resesrch. The 166 lying-in mothers and their newborn infants and 84 maternity service workers were assessed by the self-made questionnaire and SAS, SDS scale. SPSS10.0 will be used to analyze which including descriptive analysis, statistical testing and multiple linear regression analysis.Results:1.The situation of maternity service. 69% maternity service workers are from rural area. Their average age is 36. 42% only have junior high school education background and 77.4% have childbearing history, 57.1% family income are lower than 500. They all have one to three months of professional training and working experience. 84.6% woked in maternity service more than 3 years.2.The inflence of maternity service on the health of lying-in mothers. The results shows that the birth trauma and involution of uterus of lying-in mothers have maternity service are better than the one doesn't have. Lochia and infection all lower than the one doesn't have maternity service. The life quality after delivery was better than the one doesn't have maternity service. The incidence of depression was lower than the one doesn't have maternity service.3. The inflence of maternity service on the health of newborn infants. The breast feeding rate was higher than the lying-in mothers doesn't have maternity service. The infection, complication and accidental injury were lower than the lying-in mothers doesn't have maternity service. The growth of body height and weight of newborn infants one month after delivery were higher than the one doesn't have maternity service.4. The influential factors of lying-in mothers and their newborn infant's health with maternity service. The multiple factors analysis results shows that the age, education background, delivery experience, living environment, family income training time and working time are all have different influence on the health of lying-in mothers and their newborn infants.Conclusion:1. Maternity service care could improve the physiological and mental health, such as the recovery of birth trauma and involution of uterus, and decrease the incidence of lochia, depression and infection, improve the life quality after delivery.2.Maternity service care could improve the health level of newborn infants, such as the breast feeding rate, infection and accidental injury of newborn infants, and improve the growth of body height and weight of newborn infants.3. Some characteristic factors of maternity service workers have influence on the health of lying-in mothers and their newborn infants. The factors are age, education background, delivery experience, living environment, family income, training time and working time et al.
