Objective: To analysis the biopsy-proven nephropathies with detailed clinicopathologic correlations.Method: A retrospective study of 157 patients native kidney biopsies, performed at the second affiliated hospital of chongqing medical university during the period of January 2003 to February 2008, was carried out. Results: 78.3% and 21% were primary and second glomerular diseases respectively, whereas tubulointerstitial nephritis accounted for only 0.6% of the diagnoses. Overall, Mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis (MsPL) was the most common primary glomerular disease, followed by IgA nephropathy (IgAN) (30.1%)and Membranous nephropathy(MN)(13%). Among second glomerular diseases ,the most frequent diagnoses were: Lupus nephritis (LN) ( 51.5% ) , glomerulonephritis correlated with viruses of human hepatitis B(HBV) and Diabetic nephropathy (DN) (9.1%). The most common in patients with nephrotic syndrome were MsPGN (46.2%), IgAN(19.2%) and MN(13.5%). Nephritic syndrome was the most commom clinical syndrome in IgAN. IgAN was not only the most pathology common seen in CRF, but also in isolated haematuria or/and proteinuria.CONCLUSIONS: It can be concluded that primary glomerular diseases was predominant in our hospital. MsPGN was the most frequently observed pathological pattern, followed by IgAN. In SGN, LN appeared the most often. Increased prevalence was found in other kidney disease.
