Objective:To evaluate the clinical effect of "Choudongling Granule" in treating childhood Gilles de la Tourette syndrome;To compare with the curative effect of the Chinese medicine-"Choudongling Granule" and that of the western medicine-Tiapride;To compare with the side effect of the Chinese medicine-"Choudongling Granule" and that of western medicine - Tiapride.Methods:The 120 patients with childhood Gilles de la Tourette syndrome treated between October 2005 and October 2007 were randomized into two groups:the treatment group in which 60 cases were treated by "Choudongling Granule" and control group in which 60 cases were treated by Tiapride,with a course of 4 weeks;the curative effect and side effect were observed.Results:In the treatment group the disease and the TCM syndrome total effective rate were 91.67%and 95.00%,otherwise in control group the disease and the TCM syndrome total effective rate were 90.00%and 83.33%. Although there is no obvious difference in curative effect,the treatment group had no side effect and the rate of side effect in control group was 8.33%.Conclusion:The clinical curative effect of childhood Gilles de la Tourette syndrome treated with the Chinese medicine-"Choudongling Granule" is obvious and it has no side effect.
