ObjectiveThis aims to describe the injury burden situation,explore the injury burden research method and provide evidence for government to draw intervention policy by investigating injury inpatients in the three injury surveillance hospitals in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.The specific objectives include as following1.To describe the characteristics of injury inpatients2.To evaluate fee for hospitalization and healthy burden of injury inpatients3.To explore the method to evaluate the health burdenMethod1.Fee for hospitalization:this information was counted according to case history which was get from board of health of Zhuhai,Guangdong province,including patients' name, sex,cause of injury,fee for hospitalization,and so on.2.Health loss:to describe health situation of inpatients due to road traffic injury,fall and blunt and penetrating trauma by telephone interview.Results25-44 years old people comprise 45.35%of all inpatients.The number of man is higher than woman.The familiar types of injury are blunt and penetrating trauma(36.07%), road traffic injury(31.43%) and fall(17.47%).In the fee for hospitalization,inpatients of road traffic injury,blunt and penetrating trauma and fall account for the largest part,41.67%,28.27%and 22.17%,respectively. In addition,the fee for per person of the three types of injury are also highest,4568.50 Yuan,3606.38Yuan and 3698.15Yuan,respectively.Most inpatients recover their activities of daily living(ADL) and physical function at one year after accident.But the situation of role physical(RP),bodily pain(BP) and general health(GH) are still not satisfied.Blunt and penetrating trauma inpatients' physical function is the best,only 0.61%inpatients remain handicapped at one year after accident.On the contrary,there are 11.95%fall patients inpatients disabled and 2.46%inpatients disabled due to road traffic accidents.One year after injury,most inpatients have recovered in aspect of psychology.Fall inpatients' vitality(VT),social function(SF) and role emotional(RE) are not satisfied. On the whole,blunt and penetrating trauma and road traffic injury inpatients have recovered.In summary,fall injury inpatients' situation is worse than the other two types of inpatients.The most of QALY loss contribute to 25-64 years old inpatients which cost great deal of labour force.The sort order of total cost is road traffic injury(61.79%),fall(31.79%) and blunt and penetrating trauma(6.42%).The sort order of per person cost is fall(3.30 years),road traffic injury(3.28 years) and blunt and penetrating trauma(0.40 years).ConclusionRoad traffic injury,blunt and penetrating trauma and road traffic injury waste most of the fee for hospitalization,also result in great deal of healthy loss.In nowadays,it is important to adopt effective intervention to prevention these kinds of injury,in order to protect people and reduce loss.
