Objective:To observe the clinical effect of XiaoQingLongTang on acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress Syndrome(ALI/ARDS) and explore its mechanism of effect.Methods:60 patients of acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress Syndrome(ALI/ARDS) were divided randomly into treatment group(30cases)and control group(30cases).Conventional modern medical therapy was given to both groups. At the same time, the treatment group were dosed XiaoQingLongTang. The changes of cli nical symptoms and laboratory indexes were observed before and after treatment in both groups.Results:1.The total effect rate of the treatment group was 83.33%, and that of the control group was 60.00%.There was evidently difference between the two groups(P<0.05).2.The total effect rate of ameliorating symptom of the treatment group was 90.00%,which was obviously superior to that of the control group of 66.67%.3.The treatment group had remarkable effect upon increasing effective dynamic compliance(EDC),ameliorating wet lung, improving partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2), oxygen saturation(SaO2),the ratio of pressure of oxygen and fluent of oxygen(PaO2/FiO2), and decreasing leukocyte,C-reactive protein(CRP)and D-dimer(DD) in serum(P<0.05). The scores of APACHEⅡwere also more obviously lowered in the treatment group(P<0.05).Conclusion:This study indicats that at the early stage of ALI/ARDS, XiaoQingLongTang and conventional modern medical therapy together ameliorate clinical symptoms. It enriches the theory of classical prescription of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in treating modern critical disease and indicats that TCM plays an important role in the treatment of critical disease. At the same time,it settles the basis for future research.
