Abstract:Objective:Purpose of the study is to investigate the expression of VEGF-C and CXCR4 in breast cancer and to explore the relationship between their expression and lymphatic metastasis. Methods:Tissue sections from 65 breast cancer patients were examined immunohistochemically for expression of VEGF-C and CXCR4 in malignant portion and adjacent normal tissue.the correlation between the expression of VEGF-C and CXCR4 and clinicopathological features was analylzed. Results:Positive VEGF-C and CXCR4 immunostaining was detected in 53.5%and 55.4%of breast cancer respectively.A high level of VEGF-C and CXCR4 protein in breast cancer was significantly associated with axillary lmph node metastasis(P<0.05) and the expression of VEGF-C presented higher expression of CXCR4(x~2=9.50,P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of VEGF-C and CXCR4 is correlationed with lymph node metastasis(P<0.05) and a high level of VEGF-C and CXCR4 may play a important role in tumorigenesis and expression and activity of VEGF-C and CXCR4 may provide a new target for therapy in clinical settings.
