Objective:To evaluate the short-term efficacy and side effects of carbogen plus low concentration oxygen radiotherapy(CPLCOR) for Medium-term and advanced cervical carcinoma.Methods:54 patients of medium-term and advanced cervical carcinoma were randomly divided into CPI,COR group(n=26) and radiation group(n=28).CPLCOR group inhaled carbogen for five minutes before the start of radiotherapy and then inhaled 10.5%oxygen for one minute till the end of radiotherapy. Radiotherapy was completed in five minutes. The patients of radiotherapy group were only received radiotherapy and all patients under went the same radiotherapy. Results:The response of half dosage in the CPLCOR group and the radiation group were 53.8%and 39.3%,respectively(H=-1.062,P>0.05).The CR rate after treatment were 61.5%and 50.0%,respectively(H=-0.800,P>0.05).The leukopenia and diarrhea decrease in CPLCOR group. Conclusion:CPLCOR may improve short-term efficacy and radiotherapy sensibility of Medium-term and advanced cervical carcinoma and not increase the side effects.CPLCOR is one of effective measure to increase ratio of therapy.
