As the society develops, the medical industry is developing rapidly, and the sterilization of the the medical apparatus is becoming crucial. But Most of conventional sterilization techniques have some disadvantages that may limit their application extensions, such as high temperature, long time, chemical leftover, pollution, and so on. Therefore, a new steriliztion method needs to be studied, which has short disinfection time, no damage to the medical apparatuses, and lower harm to doctors and the entironment. All of these lead to the research of the sterilizaion by non-thermal plasma.By combining power electronics and pulsed power technology, a high frequency and high voltage source is developed and used to the Dielectric Barrier Discharge to generate high density and nonthermal plasma, which can be used to study the non-thermal plasma sterilization. . First, the capacitor is charged by constant-current charging technology. Then, the capacitor discharges controlled by IGBT , and the high frequency pulse is formed. At last, a high frequency transformer is used, and the high frequency and high voltage output is realized. The adjustable high frequency (0~30kHz) and adjustable high voltage (0~20kV) have been achieve.The paper introduces the principles and the design methods of the high frequency source. Fast charging for energy storage, drive and protection of IGBT, high frequency transformer are analyzed in detai. The PSpice model has been established, and the simulation is completed. The experiment results have been given and analysised, and it inosculates to the simulation results.The non-thermal plasma sterilization is studied in the paper. The Dielectric Barrier Discharge is studied. The design of the non-thermal plasma reactor, the model of the DBD, and some calculations of the discharge parameters are given. The data of the sterilization with different bacteriums and the some parameters which are influential to the sterilization are given. According to the sterilization result, the sterilization mechanism is analysised. It is proved that the sterilization is relational to the active particles of the plasma.At last, the shortcomings and some proposals and expectations are given in the paper.
