With the development of computer technology and data processing, more and more scholars engage in the research of the Surface Electromyogram Signal (sEMG) which have been used to research in muscle physiology, muscle metabolizability, healing medicine and diagnoses of nerve and muscle disease widely. sEMG became a hotspot in these research field, because it provides a safe and non-implant control way such as controlling movement of artificial limb. In addition, how to acquire the sEMG is a challenge because of the weak bioelectrical signal. So it is significant to develop a cheap, convenient and reliable sEMG data acquisition system.The thesis mainly study and develop a real-time and high precision data acquisition system based on ARM7 and USB for sEMG acquisiton experiment. There are two parts in the system. The one is the bottom device, which includes the data acquisition circuit design based on ARM7 and USB and the development of the firmware. The other is the application software, which includes the development of USB device driver based on WDM and the application software design based on LabWindows/CVI. The system applied some advanced technology such as ARM7 CPU, USB bus, virtual instrument in the design.The advantages of this system which provides a convenience portable device for sEMG real-time data acquisition experiment are high performance-price ratio, hot Plug&Play, convenience use,high performance et.The thesis firstly study the characteristics of sEMG deeply and establish this project based on these study. The project of this data acquisition system includes chief chip chosen, hardware interface circuit, firmware, device driver and application software. Secondly, The thesis gives a brief introduction of some key techniques in this system, such as ARM, USB protocol, embedded real-time operating systemμC /OS-II, virtual instrument and Windows Driver Model (WDM). At last, it introduces how to design and debug hardware, software, device driver and application program. It also gives the result of system evaluation. Now, the data acquisition system which achieves high performance has been applied in the sEMG acquisition experiment in the biology information controlling lab of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
