| Objective:To investigate the TCM syndrome types in acute attack of vertebro-basilar ischemic vertigo(VBIV),and thus to provide guidance for its TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment. At the same time,to study the clinical efficacy of Qu Feng Hua Tan Fa(Wind and phlegm-removing Therapy) in treating acute attack of VBtV.Methods:A rating scale was made with reference to "The TCM Syndrome Differentiation and Diagnostic Criteria for Stroke(trial implementation)",122 patients under a VBIV acute attack were evaluated based on this scale and their TCM syndrome types were assorted.Sixty cases that had Feng Tan(wind-phlegm) syndrome were selected and randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, with 30 in each group. The treatment group was treated with Qu Feng Hua Tan Ding Xuan Tang(Wind and phlegm-removing decoction) and breviscapine intravenous injection, while the control group was treated with flunarizine and breviscapine. The Course of treatment lasted seven days. The efficacy in relieving vertigo, general symptoms, and the TCM syndromes were observed on the 1st,3rd and 7th days of the course.TCD was used to test the improvement of blood velocity of vertebra and basilar artery after the course. Results:Of the total VBIV acute attack cases,95.08 percent had the syndrome of Feng Tan(wind-phlegm).On all the observing points, the treatment group showed significant advantage in relieving vertigo symptoms, the comprehensive symptoms,as well as TCM syndromes of Feng(wind) and Tan(phlegm)(P<0.01 or P<0.05).TCD showed that Qu Feng Hua Tan Ding Xuan Tang significantly improved the vertebral-basilar artery blood flow(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference between its efficacy and that of the vasodilating agent flunarizine(P>0.05).Conclusion:The main TCM syndrome type in acute attack of vertebro-basilar ischemic vertigo(VBIV) is Feng Tan(wind-phlegm).Qu Feng Hua Tan Fa(Wind and phlegm-removing Therapy) has very significant efficacy in treating acute attack of VBIV. |
