The Clinical Study Of Abdominal Needling In The Treatment Of Abdominal Obesity

Purpose:To observe the curative effect of abdominal needling,as compared with body acupuncture,in the treatment of abdominal obesity,also know as central obesity.Method:A total of sixty centrally obese patients were randomly divided into treatment(abdominal needling) and control(body acupuncture) groups;each group contained 30 patients.Before and after treatment,their waistline, weight,height,and hip line were assessed.The curative effect was then determined according to the "Clinical Guide To Research of New Chinese Medical Drugs" and the criteria as described by Zhao in his treatment of central obesity by abdominal needling.Results:Abdominal needling was effective in treating abdominal obesity.All observed symptoms improved after treatment.However,when compared with body acupuncture,the difference was not statistically significant(p＞0.05).Conclusions:Abdominal needling is effective in the treatment of central obesity,and deserves public promotion.
