The Role Of Serum Ferritin On Diagnosing And Treating Primary Gallbladder Carcinoma

Objectives:Serum ferritin as the iron storage form of synthesis of hemoglobin,can provide iron for bone marrow to synthesize hemoglobin.In recent years,it also can be found as various malignant tumor markers,and widely used in various malignant disease diagnosis and monitoring.This article mainly discussed the role of serum ferritin in diagnosis and treatment of primary gallbladder carcinoma.Methods:Seventy-one cases of primary gallbladder carcinoma from 2000-2007,who treated in general surgery of the 2th Affilicated Hospital of Shanxi Medical University,the ferritin were detected in 34 cases.Using t-test and chi-square to analyse the relationship between serum ferritin concentration and the duration of the symptoms,transaminase, icteric index,stagement,diagnosis and operation mode of primary gallbladder carcinoma.Results:Primary gallbladder carcinoma is one of highly malignant gastrointestinal tumors,whose clinical manifestation include jaundice,abdominal pain,abdominal bag and ascites etc,but the lack of specific symptoms in the early stage of the disease.Along with the development of illness,serum ferritin concentration will rise.The relationship between serum ferritin concentration and liver damage and jaundice is not clear.The sensitivity of serum ferritin in diagnosis of primary gallbladder carcinoma is 76.4%as same as it of CA19-9,and combined with CA19-9 can obviously increase the sensitivity of primary gallbladder carcinoma,achieve 94.1%.Along with the higher Nevin stage,serum ferritin concentration increased from 509.36 ng/ml to the average 279.5 ng/ml.Serum ferritin concentration may be have a value on prediction of primary gallbladder carcinoma..Conclusion:Ferritin can provide more help in the diagnosis and treatment of primary gallbladder carcinoma.
