Objective:This study passes an investigation of children with the developmental coordination disorder on basic cognition ability of Chinese characters rotation, digit working memory span etc,and explore the neural mechanism of visual-spatial working memory. It will deepen our understanding of the developmental coordination disorder and provide proofs for the interventions.Method:Adopt Movement ABC and developmental coordination disorder questionnaire(DCDQ) to identify children with developmental coordination disorder, and establish a age-matched control group. Two groups of children were tested the performance of the Chinese characters rotation task, the digit working memory span task and mental arithmetic task etc.The second study adopt n-back paradigms, presenting a series of pictures that space position is different,event-related potentials was used to induced between two groups were measured.Result:1.On the mental arithmetic task, the Chinese characters rotation task and the digit working memory span task, there were significant differences between the children with DCD and the control group. Performances of all tasks on the children with DCD were significantly lower than those of the control group.2.On Chinese characters rotation task, accuracy and efficiency on the children with DCD were significantly lower than those of the control group. RT increased on the control group, while angle of Chinese characters rotation was increased.RT of 90 degree on the children with DCD were longer than those of 180 degree. The findings indicate that deficits of mental rotation ability of space token exist. 3.For all children,N100 component appeared obviously in the frontal and the central areas, and P100 component were recorded significantly in the occipital areas. The amplitude of N100 and P100 of the children with DCD is lower than that of the control group. It suggested that the children with DCD invest less mental resource during the earlier period of visual processing.4.The difference wave in 0-back task were different from that in 2-back task between two groups, separation appeared from 400ms after stimuli were presented and kept on 900ms later.Compared wi th the control group, that there is a deficit in the temporarily maintaining stage of information processing for children with DCD.
