| Objective:To investigate the effects of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy(ESWL) on the pelvic injury of rabbits and the protection of manntiol in the trauma of kidney induced by ESWL in rabbits.Method:A total of 36 rabbits were randomized in 3 groups:traumatic group(group one), manntial group(group two) and controle group.Right pelvises were marked by implantation of a smal piece of catheter. After ESWL,group two received intravenous infusion of manntiol while physiological saline was given to group one.Controle group underwent the same procedure but without ESWL.Urine n-acetyl-β-d-glucosaminidase (NAG),Glycosaminoglycans(GAGs) and serum creatinine were measured and pelvic mucosa were observed udner the electron microscope and light microscope. Results:ESWL showed truamatic effects on renal parenchyma and pelvic mucosa in rabbits. However,no signigicant impacts on the renal function was found(P>0.05).A significant increase in urine NAG as well as GAGs levels were found in both group one and two after ESWL.However, the levels of NAG and GAGs were significantly lower in group two than that in group one(P<0.05).The injury of pelvisc mucosa was observed under the electron microscope and light microscope. Conclusion:Renal collecting conducts and pelvis in rabbits could damage induced by ESWL.Manntiol has protective effects on shockwave-induced renal injury. |
