The Relationship Between Iodine Conversion Rate And Therapeutic Efficacy Of Radioactive Iodine Therapy

Objective: Find the relationship between iodine conversion rate and therapeutic efficacy of radioactive iodine therapy. Then we can prognosis the therapeutic efficacy of radioactive iodine therapy by studying the iodine conversion rate. With this studying, we can select iodine conversion rate as a important factor instead of teff when calculating the doses of radioactive.Methods: Choose 166 patients with Graves'disease who treated with radioactive iodine therapy on the first time. Then divided them into four groups according iodine conversion rate. Group 1: iodine conversion rate<0.6, Group 2: 0.6≤iodine conversion rate<0.8, Group 3: 0.8≤iodine conversion rate<1.0, Group 4: iodine conversion rate≥1.0. Record information of patients at the time of 3 months, 6 months ,one year or one year later after treated by radioactive iodine. Studying the relationship between iodine conversion rate and therapeutic efficacy of radioactive iodine therapy.Result: In group 1, unrecovery rate is 12.5%(3/24),fully recovery rate is 87.5%(21/24). In group 2, unrecovery rate is 21.4%(12/56),fully recovery rate is 78.6%(44/56);In Group3, unrecovery rate is 35%(21/60),fully recovery rate is 65%(36/60);In Group 4, unrecovery rate is 61.5%(16/26),fully recovery rate is 38.5%(8/26). There are relationships between iodine conversion rate and therapeutic efficacy of radioactive iodine therapy, with raising of iodine ronversion rate, unrecovery rate raise and fully recovery rate decrease.Conclusion: There are relationships between iodine conversion rate and therapeutic efficacy of radioactive iodine therapy, with raising of Iodine Conversion rate, unrecovery rate raise and hypothyroidism rate decrease. When calculate the doses of radioactive iodine, the iodine conversion rate should be considered. IN order to improve the radioactive iodine therapy.
