Based on the 3-D visible human fused with the localization information and hierarchy of acupoints, this paper proposed the acupuncture process with the form of force feedback according to the Chinese traditional medical spirit, modern biomechanics theory and finite element method, which gives trainees a vivid feeling. By this method, the traditional visible human with static acupoints is improved to a new one with dynamic force feedback and real-time tissue deformation. The model gives provides the acupuncture teaching an electronic method which shows the dynamic process more directly.Based on the localization of acupoints in VOXEL-MAN software, we studied the mechanical parameters of the main tissues including skins, fat, muscles, etc., and construct their physical models respectively. Based on the viscoelasticity of the man tissues, we construct the tissue deformation model using Finite Element Method. We can obtain the tissues information around the acupoint and along the needle direction according to images in VHP database. Through the physical models of tissues, the feedback force can be computed by the position and speed of needle in virtual system, and be returned back to acupuncture leaner through force feedback device. The finite element deformation model of tissues, deformation can be computed by the position and speed of needle in virtual system, the feedback force. The data communication between force feedback device and VOXEL-MAN software is realized through pipeline successfully. A virtual acupuncture force feedback system based on visible human is also build up. This system not only contains plenty visual information, but also carries out real-time data communication. It can bring learners a living virtual acupuncture environment, and contribute to acupuncture teaching.
