| Objective To discuss the outcome of nerve functional preservation after microsurgical resection of cerebellopontine angle meningiomas. Methods A retrospective analysis 0f 47 patients with cerebellopontine angle meningiomas was performed. Anatomical preservation 0f cranial nerves was analyzed. Preoperative and postperative functional preservation was constrastedResults According to Simpson resection grade, 33 of 47 cases achieved grade I resection, 7 of 47cases grade II and 7 tumors were subtotally removed. The rate of total resection was 85.1% .The rate of anatomical preservation of facial nerve was 89.4% ,while functional preservation( House-Brackmannâ… ,â…¡) was 76.6% . The rate of anatomical preservation of auditory nerve was83.0% ,while functional preservation( postoperative PTA decrease≤15dB,postopeative SDS increase≥15% ) was 66.0% .Conclusion Microsurgical resection is an effective and safe method to cerebellopontine angle meningiomas. The primary principles in dealing with this disease entity include preservation of nerve function and total resection of the tumor. |
