Objectives To assess the effects of TNF-αinhibitor for in the treatment of discogenic pain.Methods We searched the MEDLINE and EMBASE databases and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials up to and including March 2009 if reported in English.We also screened references given in relevant reviews and identified trials.Randomized trials and double-blind controlled trials of TNF-αinhibitor for in the treatment of discogenic pain with or without sciatica were included.Results In total,5 trials were included in this review.3 trials were considered high quality.The pooled OR and WMD was separately -1.51(95%CI:-2.76,-0.26),0.33(95% CI:1.01,1.03).Conclusion No statistically significant effects were found in favor of TNF-αinhibitor compared with placebo.
