| Objective: To observe the Jieduhuoxuetang united Methotrexate treatment of Elderly- onset rheumatoid arthritis clinical efficacy. To explore the Elderly-onset rheumatoid arthritis TCM Etiology, Pathogenesis and new treatment. Methods: 50 selected patients with Elderly-onset rheumatoid arthritis were randomly divided into treatment group (25 cases), the control group (25 cases), patients in the treatment group were administered with Jieduhuoxuetang United Methotrexate, while those in the control group treated with Methotrexate.Total therapeutic course was 3 monthes, using the United States Institute of Rheumatology issued by the ACR criteria to evaluate the effieacy. Results: The clinical observation showed that at the end of the stady,the treatment group has 1 case achieved ACR70 criteria,9 cases of the ACR50 criteria, and ACR20 criteria reached 13 cases, the control group have 2 cases of ACR50 criteria, ACR20 criteria reached 14 cases, the treatment group is significantly higher than the control group (P <0.05).The effective rate of the treatment group is 92.00%, which is also significantly superior to that of the control group (64.00%, P<0.05). In improving the major symptoms, signs and laboratory indicators the treatment group are better than the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion: Jieduhuoxuetang united small-dose Methotrexate is a effective therapy of Elderly onset rheumatoid arthritis, It possesses such functions as improving the clinical signs and symptoms, reducing erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP), alleviating the disease and so on.
