A Study On Regularity Of The Form Of Medication And Guiding Herbs In General Medical Collection Of Royal Benevolence

General Medical Collection of Royal Benevolence, including 200 volumes with nearly two million prescriptions, about 200 million words was a famous prescription book in Northern Song Dynasty. The book, which collected academic experience of the predecessors, was a splendid magnum opus and complete summary and reflect about clinical medicine from Han and Tang Dynasty to North Song Dynasty.The forms of Chinese medicine have great influences on clinical curative effect. The Chinese herbs were made into various forms on the purpose of strengthening the drugs efficacy, accelerating action, decreasing side effects. According to the characteristics of drugs and diseases, we choose different forms.Guiding herbs with correct application, which can directly induce drugs into meridian directing to the diseases, improve effect, attend accompanying syndromes, promote healthy qi, conciliate resistance, reduce toxicity, correct smell, be easy to take etc, play an important role in the prescription as adjuvant drugs. It is widely applied as characteristics of the Chinese prescriptions.This article sorted and analyzed the form of medication and the guiding herbs recorded in General Medical Collection of Royal Benevolence with the methods of philology, found the law of the form of medication and guiding herbs and discussed the clinical application.
