Study On The Curative Effect Of TCM Fomenting Therapy Towards The Low Back Pain Originating From The Combined Spinal-Epidural Anesthesia In Gynecology Department

Objectives:The combined-spinal-epidural anesthesia(CSEA) has been widely used in gynecology department,with low back pain as its main complication,which negatively affects the patients recovering.Nowadays,to relieve the CSEA-related low back pain,there are varied kinds of methods,but most of them are of not a little side-effects.TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine) fomenting therapy,a new-born treating device,with obvious effect and low costing,will potentially become the main therapy for the low back pain originating form CSEA.This study aims at research the curative effect of the TCM Fomenting Bag,with Seeds of Brassica Alba and Rutaecarpa inside,towards the CSEA related low back pain,by evaluating the low back pain extent of the patients chosen into this study,all of which were hospitalized in the Third Gynecology Department of the TCM Hospital of Guangdong Province.Methods:According to the double-blind and random principle,126 patients with CSEA-related low back pain were divided into three groups,as Group A,Group B and Group C.Group A were given normal postoperative nursing but without any special treatment for the low back pain,while Group B were given the Normal Fomenting Bag(with hot-water inside only) and Group C given the TCM-Fomenting Bag(with Seeds of Brassica Alba and Rutaecarpa inside ).Before and after the measures,the low back pain extent was evaluated and statistic analysis would be given to the account.Results: In each group,there was significant difference between the low back pain extent data before and after the measures(P<0.05).The treating course included three days and there was significant difference among three groups everyday(P<0.05).On the first two days,the pain extent data of Group C was lower than those of Group B,and Group B lower than those of Group A(P<0.05). On the third day,the extent data of both Group B and Group C were lower than Group A(P<0.05) but there wasn' t any significant difference between Group B and Group C(P>0.05).What' s more,after the first day,the extent of low back pain relieved in Group C was higher than that in Group B,while the extent in Group G was higher that in Group A.After the second day,the extent of low back pain relieved in Group C was the highest,but after the third day, the extent in Group C wasn' t higher than those in the other two groups.Conclusion:1.TCM fomenting therapy acted more effectively than normal fomenting therapy in speeding the pain relieving,especially on the first two days of the treatment.2.During acting,patients suffer more from low back pain than during sitting and during sitting patients suffer more from low back pain than during lying.
