Analysis On The Semen Quality Of 217 College Students In Guangxi Area

Objective : To evaluate the semen quality of college students in Guangxi area at present, and analysis the influence factor .Methods : A computer assisted sperm analysis (CASA) was made of the sperm concentration, grade A sperm, grade B sperm, survival rate and movement parameters (VCL,VAP,VSL,LIN,STR) of 217 volunteers from 19 colleges in Guangxi area. The volunteers were divided into normal and abnormal groups according to the criteria (2ml≤Semen volume≤6ml, sperm concentration≥20×106/ml, grade A and B sperm≥50% or grade A sperm≥25%, sperm survival rate≥60%, sperm morphology≥70%). The results were compared with the data reported in China. While, The WBC in EPS, Varicocele, ureaplasma urealyticum,Chlamydia Trachomatis infection, ASAb positive were detected and compared the detection rate of the normal and abnormal groups.Results: Among the 217 volunteers, the sperm concentration was (64.78±44.20)×106/ ml , grade A + grade B sperm was (39.43±16.38) % , grade A sperm was (27.40±15.58)% , and the sperm survival rate was (49.30±18.24)%. The volunteers with normal semen accounted for 43.3 %(94/217) in contrast with abnormal 56.7% (123/217) . Among the 123 volunteers with abnormal semen, there were 97 (78.86%) with abnormal survival rate, 17(3.25%) with abnormal concentration, 87(70.73%) abnormal motility. No volunteers were azoospermia. Among the 94 volunteers with normal semen, the VCL,VAP and VSL were above 22μm/s, and the VCL,VAP,VSL,LIN and STR were significantly higher than those of the abnormal group (P<0.01). Moreover, the sperm concentration and the sperm viability rate in 217 volunteers, including 94 volunteers with normal semen, were lower than the data reported in China. The rate of Abnormal WBC in EPS, Varicocele, ureaplasma urealyticum,Chlamydia Trachomatis infection, ASAb positive were detected individually:41.5%,33.2%,19.4%,6%。and the rate of Abnormal WBC in EPS, Varicocele, ureaplasma urealyticum,Chlamydia Trachomatis infection, ASAb positive were significantly higher than that of normal sperm group. (P<0.01).Conclusions : Abnormalities in the semen quality of the college students in Guangxi area are decreased sperm motility and sperm survival rate mainly. Survival rate is significantly lower than the data reported in China. The lower sperm survival rate,sperm motility and exercise capacity of sperm of the college students in Guangxi area may be related to prostatic fluid leukocyte abnormalities, varicocele, mycoplasma,chlamydia infection, ASAb positive.
