| The skin and soft tissue defects of hand and forearm in Hand Surgery are very common. The method of skin grafting is often difficult to repair the defects and reconstruct the function of hand and forearm. In clinical the flaps are usually used to repair the defects and supply good bases for the functional reconstruction of the hand. Application of abdominal pedicle flap for the skin and soft tissue defects of hand and forearm are a traditional and common approach. The earliest flap is random abdominal pedicle flap, and then with advancement of the axial flap technology, the various kinds of axial flaps with the pedicels on abdomen are widely used in clinical. The abdominal pedicle flap needs to be fixed for a long time and has a fat appearance. With the development of the micro-technology and the wider use of free flap, the development of abdominal pedicle flap has slowed down. But the abdominal skin flap is still widely used in clinic because of some advantages of it, such as easy design and operation, high survival rate, ability of anti-infection. The abdominal pedicle flap is taken seriously again with the emergence of the subdermal vascular network skin flap. As the experience accumulate, the research advance, the design be improved, the application of the subdermal vascular network skin flap have the broad prospects for the repair of the skin defects in the hand and forearm. |
