| [Abstract] Objective To discuss the effects of two surgery methods for correcting different kinds of congenital ptosis. Methods To investigate, compare and analyse the surgery effects after operations of shortening of levator palpebrae superioris or musculus frontalis sling which were operated at 102eyes of 80 patients with different kinds of primary ptosis in the 1st. Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University from 1996-2008. Results In the group of patients operated by shortening of levator palpebrae superioris, the appearance and effects of those with mild and moderate congenital ptosis is better than those with severe ones(P<0.05). On the contrary,in the group of musculus frontalis sling, the surgical effects and appearance of patients with moderate and severe congenital ptosis is better than mild ones(P<0.05).Both are statistically significant. Conclusion Congenital ptosis is a common phenomenon of eye malformations impacting people's appearance in plastic surgery, and because of covering pupil, the severe level can make deprivative myopia,so that it can give patients damage to both physical and mental health seriously, thus they need to correct the disease as soon as possible.According to the severity of congenital ptosis in clinical situation, the patients can be divided into mild, moderate and severe groups. Most of them are able to be operated by variety kinds of surgery except Myasthenia gravis.Recently, there are two major operations correcting congenital ptosis generally such as shortening of levator palpebrae superioris regarded as one of the most satisfactory clinical method, according with physiological anatomy, making long-term effect because of keeping upper eyelid's function as well as achieving the purpose of beauty by enhancing levator muscle strength so as to fit for mild and moderate congenital ptosis;musculus frontalis sling correcting congenital ptosis sheer effectively by lifting upper eyelid with frontalis muscle directly without intermediary objects so as to fit for moderate and severe congenital ptosis. |
