Objective:In order to solve the problems in titanium mesh cage subsidence after the anterior cervical decompression and fusion(ACDF) of the cervical spine, with the study of shapes of vertebral end plate and measurement of intervertebral and vertebral hight,we compare the totally-touched titanium mesh cage designed by professor Chen De-yu with the titanium mesh cage and the titanium mesh cage with clouts to see whether there is the superiority of decrease in subsidence and resistance to vertebral compression in the totally-touched titanium mesh cage or not. Methods:To collect cervical spine of goats and imitate clinical ACDF with three different titanium mesh cages such as the titanium mesh cage, the totally- touched titanium mesh cage and the titanium mesh cage with clouts for intervertebral grafting, then perform the force-dispalcement experiments to assess which is the best one for resisting vertebral compression and decrease in subsitence of titanium mesh cage. Results:In the view to the resistance to compression with the end plate, compared with the titanium mesh cage with clouts, the totally-touched titanium mesh cage increases by 10%and the titanium mesh cage decreases by 13%.So is similar to the ones without the vertebal end plate. The cervical vertabra without the end plate is not as good in resistance to vertebral compression as the one with the end plate. The more big is the angle between the titanium mesh cage and the end plate, the more extent of subsidence and the less resistance to compression does the cervical vertebra have.Compared with 0°angle,10°angle decreases by 8-9%and 20°decreases by 22-24%in resistance to compression. The stability is also characteristic of axial rigidity. In the view to axial rigidity of the cervical vertebra with the end plate, compared with the totally-touched titanium mesh cage, the titanium mesh cage with clouts deceases by 20%and titanium mesh cage decreases by 42%. Compared with the totally-touched titanium mesh cage, the titanium mesh cage with clouts decreases by 20%and the titanium mesh cage decreases by 59%in axial rigidity in grafting with 10°angles and with the end plate.Compared with the totally-touched titanium mesh cage, the titanium mesh cage with clouts decreases by 21%and titanium mesh cage decreases by 43%in axial rigidity grafting with 20°angles and with the end palte. So is similar to the ones without the vertebal end plate. Conclusions:Grafting with the totally-touched titanium mesh cage is best one of three titanium mesh cage in resistance to vertebral compression and decrease in titanium cage subsidence. The vertebral end palte of cervical spine is more beneficial to resist compreesion and decrease in subsidence of titanium mesh cage than the one without the end plate. The more big is the angle, the less resistance to compression and the more vertebral subsidence of titanium mesh cage does the cervical vertebrae have.Grafting with the totally-touched titanium mesh cage is the most stable for it has the strongest axial rigidity.
