【Objective】To study if there are differences between the survival of first kidney transplantation and retransplantation. To analysis the factors affecting survival of kidney retransplantation.【Method】We retrospectively evaluated the short and long-term results of 18 (1.3%) recipients who received second allograft among 2368 kidney transplants between June,1991 and March,2008.Using life table method,we compare the 1,3,5year graft survival of first kidney transplantation and retransplantation.Using Kaplan-meier analysis method,we test the statistic significans of several factors which include recipient age, primary graft survival time,Graft Nephrectomy and rejection appeared in 6 months after surgery affecting the regraft survival.【Results】The respective 1,3,5year graft survival for first kidney transplantation versus retransplantation was 100%versus86%,94%(17/18) versus78%,89% (16/18)versus67%(all P>0.05).The distribution of other factors which may influence the graft survival between short primary graft survival time group and long primary graft survival time group has no statistic significance. The respective 1,3,5,10 year graft survival for short primary graft survival time group versus long primary graft survival time group was 100%versus 100%,89%versus 100%,78% versus 100%,44%versus67%(all P>0.05,total P=0.191).The factors distribution between rejection(within 6months) group and non-rejection group has no statistic significance. The respective 1,3,5,10 year graft survival for rejection group versus non-rejection group was 92%versus 75%,92%versus 75%,82%versus 75%, 48%versus 75%(all P>0.05,total P=0.2241).The factors distribution between graft nephrectomy group and non-nephrectomy group has no statistic significance. The respective 1,3,5,10 year graft survival for graft nephrectomy group and non-nephrectomy group was 100%versus 100%,100%versus90%,100%versus79 %,50%versus56%(all P>0.05,total P=0.666).The nephrectomy rate in young group is lower than elder group. The other factors distribution between young group and elder group has no statistic significance. The respective 1,3,5,10 year graft survival for young group and elder group was 100%versus100%,86%versus 100 %,71%versus 100%,57%versus46%,all P>0.05,total P=0.8440.【Conclusion】There is no statistic differences between the survival of first kidney transplantation and retransplantation. The recipient age, primary graft survival time, Graft Nephrectomy and rejection appeared in 6 months have little contribution for regrafts survival rate.
