Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of Jiarong tablet on Burning Mouth Syndrome of climacteric female. To study its influence on Substance P of the tissue scraped from the margo lateralis linguae and the level of serum gonada1 hormone. Methods:Sixty cases of Burning Mouth Syndrome of climacteric female were randomly divided into two groups: Jiarong tablet group (n=30) and blank group (n=30). Capsules were used as placebo in blank group. To rate pain intensity before and after treatment by visual analogous scale and to compare the therapeutic effect by pain rating. Meanwhile, to detect the density of Substance P of the tissue scraped from the surface of the tongue and the level of serum gonada1 hormone.Results:1. Comparisons of VAS pain index of the two groups with BMS of climacteric female were the following: There were no significant differences of the pain index of every group before treatment (p > 0. 05 ) . The pain index of every group after one course was decreased when compared with that before treatment( p < 0. 01 ). There was significant difference in Jiarong tablet group compared with that in blank group (p < 0. 01) . The pain index of every group after two courses was decreased obviously when compared with that before treatment and after one course (p< 0. 01) . There was significant difference in Jiarong tablet group compared with that in blank group( p < 0. 01) . There was significant difference in blank group after two courses compared with that before treatment( p < 0. 01). But there was no significant difference compared with that after one course(p>0. 05) .2. Comparisons of therapeutic effect of the two groups with BMS of climacteric female were the following: The total effective rate were 90% in Jiarong tablet group, 26.67% in blank group. There was significant difference in Jiarong tablet group when compared with that in blank group ( p < 0. 01) .3. Comparisons of the intensity of Substance P of the tissue scraped from the margo lateralis linguae of the two groups with BMS of climacteric female were the following: There was no significant difference of the intensity of Substance P of every group before treatment ( p > 0. 05 ) . The intensity of Substance P was decreased obviously in Jiarong tablet group after two courses when compared with that before treatment ( p< 0. 01 ) . There was no significant difference in blank group after two courses when compared with that before treatment (p>0. 05) . There was significant difference in Jiarong tablet group after two courses when compared with that in blank group ( p < 0. 01) .4.Comparisons of the level of serum gonada1 hormone of the two groups with BMS of climacteric female were the following: There was no significant difference of the level of serum gonada1 hormone of every group before treatment ( p > 0. 05 ). The level of serum gonada1 hormone was decreased obviously in Jiarong tablet group after two courses when compared with that before treatment ( p < 0. 01) . There was no significant difference in blank group (p > 0. 05 ) . There was significant difference in Jiarong tablet group after two courses when compared with that in blank group ( p< 0. 01) .Conclusion:The therapeutic effect of Jiarong tablet on BMS was fine. Jiarong tablet may decrease the intensity of Substance P of the tissue scraped from the margo lateralis linguae and the level of serum gonada1 hormone, which maybe one of its mechanisms in treatment on BMS of climacteric female.
