Functional Electrical Stimulation plays an important role in the treatment of neurological disorders and rehabilitation of nerve injury. It makes use of the nerve cells' response to these stimulations to transfer our artificial controlling signals. Through the stimulation of adscititious electrical current, nerve cells are supposed to generate a nerve impulse that is the same as the one induced by natural inspiration. Then the nerve impulse contracts the corresponding muscle fibers which finally generates expected movement. With the development of micro-electronics technology, micro-nano technology and biological technology, FES is widely used in rehabilitation medicine. Now FES using not only has achieved great progress in control in the treatment of epilepsy, chronic pain, urinary incontinence, visual and listening impairment, but also has an attractive prospect in the upper and lower extremities' move, the treatment of scoliosis, the assistant with breathing.The topic is about the application of the FES used in the upper and lower extremities' move, proposing the method that using the sEMG signal picked-up from the health part of the body to stimulate the paralyzed part instead of using the electrical pulse signals. SEMG is biological signals accompanied by neuromuscular activities, it has a relation with muscles' activity and functional status, so it reflect the activities of neuromuscular to some extent. The sEMG signal is complex and changeable; there are great differences between sEMG and the continuous wave, the bunch of shape wave and the dilatational wave used in traditional electricity stimulation treatment.In this paper, sEMG signal is picked-up from the health part of the body, then processed by matlab and stored as the stimulation source, considering the meridian phenomenon in traditional Chinese medicine, choose the appropriate points to stimulate. After introduced the EMG signals, the methods for EMG processing and the researches of FES, we detailedly introduced the hardware and software design of the system. The whole system is made up of three main parts, the Single Chip Micyoco, the D/A circuit and the signal enlarged circuit. Transform the EMG signals from digital signals to analog signals, and then enlarge them to the irritability intensity of the human body. Finally stimulates the human body with the analog signals.
