Comparison Of Different Types Aspherical IOLs With The Wavefront Aberration Analysis

Objective: To assess the visual quality of the eyes with implantation of four types aspheric intraocular lens by analyzing the high order aberration.Methods: 91cases(114eyes) suffering from cataract who volunteered to receive the surgery from March to September in 2007,were randomly collected into 5 groups. Group 1 including 22cases(27 eyes): Z9003(AMO); Group 2 including 24cases(30eyes): AcrySof IQ SN60WF(Alcon); Group 3 including 18 cases (25 eyes): KS-3Ai(Cannonstaar); Group 4 including 10 cases(12 eyes): Acri Smart 36A(Germany); Group5 including 17cases (20eyes):AR40e(AMO). Glaucoma, retinal pathology, age-related macular degeneration and so on were excluded. Surgery was performed by the same doctor. Patients were examined 3 months after surgery, including uncom- fortable complain, visual acuity and position of IOL. Wavefront aberration were measured across different pupil diameters(4mm,5mm,6mm) using Aberration Analyzer(Wavelight, Germany)and contrast sensitivity were test(contrast measurement without glare-wog,contrast measurement with glare-wog, red contrast measurement-red test,readaption test)using Kontrastometer BA-4(BKG MEDIZIN TECHNIK, Germany). ANOVA statistical method was used to analyze the data post-operation 3 months.Results: Uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA)≥4.8 and best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)≥4.9 in all groups. The value of Z40 and RMS4 in the aspherical IOLs four groups were significantly lower than that of the spherical IOL group at all different pupil diameters(p<0.05) .The value of RMSh of the aspherical IOLs four groups were significantly lower than that of the spherical IOL group only at 6mm pupil diameters. The change values of Z40 and RMS4 among the four aspherical groups were in the order of groupⅠ0.05). As for RMS3, there was no significant difference among the five groups at different pupil diameter(p>0.05). Contrast Sensitivity among the four aspherical IOL groups had no significantly difference(p>0.05), but all of them were lower than that of groupⅤ(p<0.05).Conclusion: The change values of Z40 and RMS4 among the four aspherical groups were in the order of group Z9003
