| Objecties:A cephalometic study of 13 adults with severe skeletal ClassⅢmalocclusion treated by orthodontic and orthognathic surgery was undertaken to assess the results of treatment.Methods:13 adults patients with severe skeletal classⅢmalocclusion (male 5,female 8),were included in this study. The average was 20土2.9 years old, with age range from 18 years o1d to 25 years old. All Patients were treated by orthodontic and orthognathic surgery. The average treatment period was 1.8土0.4 year. 23 landmarks of lateral cephalograms taken at the beginning and the end of the treatment were selected and evaluated. The arithmetic mean and standard deviation were calculated for each variable. Paired t-test were Performed to evaluate the significant treatment change.Results:Skeletal ClassⅢfacial profile improved obviously. Lower incisor recovered normal inclination and normal overbite and overjet were established.Conclusion:Orthodontic and surgical correction was effective for adult severe skeletal ClassⅢmalocclusion. The dental decompensation was a successful key of orthodontic and orthognathic treatment. |
