Objective:To identify factors affecting curative effect of infrainguinal revascularization with vascular grafts. Methods:Retrospective analysis on 136 patients underwent 145 infrainguinal revascularizations with use of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) in our vascular center between Jan 1st 1998 and Jan 1st 2008. Among these patients, 81 were male and 55 were female.Their age ranged from 32-year- old to 83-year-old, with a median age of 65.5-year-old. 89 cases were atherosclerosis obliterans, 12 cases were thromboangiitis Obliterans and 35 cases were lower extremity arterial injury. Results: During one month after operation,4 patients were dead and 4 patients were amputated. The follow-up spaned from 1 month to 1 year. 1-year follow-up rate was 70.31% and 3-year follow-up rate was 40.20%. 1-year primary patency rate was 64.44% and 1-year secondary patency was 70.00%. 3-year primary patency was 34.15% and 3-year secondary patency was 43.90%.During follow-up, 8 patients were dead and 25 patients were amputated. Conclusion: The long-term patency rates depended on operation modality , the extent of ischaemia and associated disease, such as hypertension, diabetes and so on(p<0.05). Postoperative anticoagulation therapy could also affect patency rates.
