Object: To find the serum 6-trance protein which can be an indicator for the renal and cardiovascular transformation from normal changes to pathological lesions in the aging process through evaluating the relationship and age-related changes of glomerular filtration rate(GFR) and carotid intima-media thickness (C-IMT) in healthy population. Methods: Healthy participants (n=82)screening with history-taking, physical examination and laboratory tests were divided into three groups(35-49 years, 50-69 years,≥70 years). GFR was estimated (eGFR) by the modification of diet in renal disease (MDRD) . C-IMT was measured through carotid ultrasonography. the serumβ-trance protein was evaluated with ELASA in 450nmResults:1. eGFR decreased and C-IMT increased with age. Compared to the other two groups, both decrease of eGFR and increase of C-IMT were significant in age group≥70 years (P < 0.05) .2. eGFR is correlated with carotid IMT (P < 0.05) .3.serum 6-trance protein had no statistical difference among three groups(P>0.1). And it is not correlated with eGFR or carotid IMT (P>0.1).Conclusions : GFR and C-IMT are the marker for renal and cardiovasular aging, respectively. serumβ-trance protein can't be the indicator for renal or cardiovascular transformation from normal changes to pathological lesions in the different ages of healthy people.
