Objective: To research and analyze L1-L5 lumbar bone mineral density (BMD) of healthy adult male in Dalian area with quantitative computed tomography (QCT), and study the discipline of bone mineral density in healthy adult male in Dalian area with different ages, calculate the peak bone mass (PBM) of local health adult male and age group with peak bone mass, thus provide scientific basis for diagnosis and prevention of local osteoporosis (OP) as well as accumulating data for building normal bone mineral density database among adults in North China. Methods: Select 465 health adult male, Han nationality, with Dalian household (including three northern cities), residing for more than 5 years (including 5 years), ranging from 20-59 years old, to adopt QCT bone mineral density measurement technique: (1) To measure L1-L5 lumbar bone mineral density in adults of Han nationality in Dalian area, with ages ranging from 20-59 years old, and analyze scope and age structure of lumbar bone mineral density; (2) To analyze average normal ranges of peak bone mass in Dalian local adult male among 20-39 years old, and take such data as a reference criteria of bone loss; (3) Take 10 years as a age group, and divide 20-59 years old into four age groups, then to analyze relations of lumbar bone mineral density of adult male in Dalian area. Results and conclusion: It comes to a conclusion through Siemens QCT determination technique: 1) Average reference data (197.27±23.71 mg/ml) of lumbar bone mineral density of health adult male of Han nationality among 20-59 years old in Dalian area and normal reference data of peak bone mass (212.60±7.80 mg/ml) among 20-39 years old, as well as normal reference data of osteoporosis diagnosis (212.60±59.26 mg/ml); 2) average L1-L5 lumbar peak bone mass of health adult male in Dalian area is among 24-32 years old, which is 2-4 years later than average age of peak bone mass (20-30 years old); 3) After peak bone mass, L1-L5 lumbar bone mineral density is decreasing with ages, and age group of 48-50 years has a obvious speed of bone loss; in which, bone loss speed of L4 lumbar in 20-59 years old is particularly evident (P<0.05). Adult male in Dalian area should pay attention to osteoporosis prevention from 48 years.
