The Significance Of Serum P53 Antibodies And Carcinoembryonic Antigen(CEA) In Renal Cancer

OBJECTIVE:To study the relationship between the expression of serum p53 antibodies,carcinoembryonic antigen and the clinicopathologic features in patients with renal cancer,as well as the sequential changing regularity of serum p53 antibodies and carcinoembryonic antigen before and after surgical treatment.METHODS:The p53 antibodies and carcinoembryonic antigen were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in 58 patients with renal cancer. The blood samples were collected on the first preoperative day and the seventh postoperative day. Moreover, 20 patients with non-renal cancer disease and 30 healthy individuals were recruited into this study as controls.RESULT:Serum anti-p53 antibodies were positive in 13 of 58 renal cancer patients (22.4â„…).The level of serum anti-p53 antibodies in renal cancer was related with disease stage,but it was no significantly relationship with sex,age,the size of tumor (P>0.05).The level of serum antibodies decreased significantly in patients after operation. There were significant differences in the level and positive rate of serum p53 antibodies between the first preoperative day and the seventh postoperative day of measurement. The level of serum carcinoembryonic antigen in renal cancer was related with disease stage(p<0.05),showed significant differences between the first preoperative day and the seventh postoperative day(p<0.05).There are some positive correlation between p53 antibodies and carcinoembryonic antigen in patients with renal cancer(before operation r=0.612,after operation r=0.506).CONCLUSION:Serum p53 antibodies and carcinoembryonic antigen are helpful to diagnosis of renal cancer.Monitoring of sequential changing is helpful to the prognosis of patients with renal cancer after operation.
