Objective : To investigate the expression of DcR3 mRNA in peripheral blood nuclear cells(PBMCs)from patients with GBS (Guillain-Barrésyndrome).Methods: 36 patients with GBS and 20 healthy controls(HC) were investigated. The expression of DcR3 mRNA in PBMCs was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) . The correlation between the severity of GBS and the expression of DcR3 mRNA were analyzed. Electrophysiology of nerves and the level of CSF-Ig were also analyse .Results: (1)The expression of DcR3 mRNA in PBMCs was 0.40±0.08 in GBS group, 0.17±0.04 in HC group, respectively. The DcR3 mRNA level in GBS was significantly higher compared with healthy control(P<0. 01). (2) DcR3 mRNA level in mild group was 0.39±0.07,in severe group was 0.41±0.05. The expression of DcR3 mRNA had no difference between two groups.(3) Electrophysiology of nerves had no difference between two groups.(4) The types of electrophysiology of nerves were not correlated with DcR3 mRNA. (5)The level of CSF-Ig had no difference between two groups.(6) There was no correlation between CSF-Ig and DcR3 mRNA.Conclusion: The expression of DcR3 mRNA in PBMCs from patients with GBS was significantly increased, perhaps indicating that DcR3 was involved in the pathogenesis of GBS. But there was no correlation between the severity of GBS and the level of DcR3 mRNA. DcR3 was not correlated with electrophysiology of nerves of GBS. There was no correlation between CSF-Ig and DcR3 mRNA. There was no direct correlation between DcR3 and the abnormal of CSF-Ig.
