Purpose To evaluate the performance of MRI of intracranial tumors, analyze the causes of misdiagnosis.Materials and Methods A retrospective analysis of 667 cases of intracranial tumors in MRI images confirmed by surgery and pathology in our hospital Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis of pathologically confirmed 667 cases of intracranial tumors, including 667 cases non-enhanced scan, 642 cases scan + Enhancement. Sort out the statistics misdiagnosis rate and diagnostic rate, the incidence of tumor location, MRI performance, including tumor morphology, signal characteristics, and strengthen the situation of peritumoral edema. Use SPSS 13.0 package to test theâ… ~â…¡grade betweenâ…¢~â…£grade astrocytoma with six signs, include cystic and necrotize, hemorrhage, Vascular shadow in tumor, extent of edema and degree of enhancement. p<0.05 means statistical differences.Result The total diagnosis cases was 553, Diagnosis rate was 82.9%, this part of the tumor showed consistent with the typical performance in MRI. The total misdiagnosis cases was 114, the total misdiagnosis rate was 17.1%, this part of the tumor showed inconsistent with the typical performance in MRI.Each misdiagnosed tumors were: Meningioma 6.1%, astrocytoma 19.2%, pituitary tumor 2.1%, acoustic neuroma 2.7%, metastatic tumor25.0%, craniopharyngioma 9.1%, medulloblastoma 28.6%,hemangioblastoma 33.3%, ependymoma 30%, cholesteatoma 27.8%, lymphoma 86.7%, central neurocytoma 45.5%, oligodendroglioma 14.3%,ganglioglioma 20%, germinoma 60%, teratoma 100%, choroids plexus papilloma33.3%, trigeminal neurinoma 0%, EWS/PNET 100%, brain neuroblastoma 50%, chondrosarcoma 100%, solitary fibrous tumor 100%.Conclusion MRI in the diagnosis of brain tumors have a higher value. Most tumors had the typical MRI features. Misdiagnosis causes include: non typical feature of tumor and the location, and the "different diseases with the same shadow, the same disease with different shadow ",doctor diagnose intracranial tumors level nott enough, no serious reading, few awareness on the rare cancer and the lack of clinical data integration, limits of MRI examination, examination instruments imperfection.
