| Nocardiosis is an opportunistic infection that has been noted in patients with malignancies, autoimmune diseases, long-term steroid users and trans-plant recipients. Lung and skin involvement are frequent, whereas bone and cerebral and soft tissue involvements are rare. Often a soft tissue Nocardiosis is a sign of a disseminated Nocardia infection, but primary soft-tissue Nocardiosis is very rare. Although trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole(TMP/SMX) is considered as the most efficacious regimen for Nocardiosis, resistance have been reported in rare cases. Herein, We described a very rare case of primary soft-tissue Nocardial abscess resistant to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole with the complication of severe pneumonia was successfully treated with combined antibiotic therapy and surgical drainage. |
