Objective:The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess the efficacies and adverse effects of Mycophenolate mofetil(MMF) for Lupus Nephritis(LN) especially for proliferative LN versus Cyclophosphamide (CYC),Azathioprine (AZA) or CYC-AZA.Methods:Randomised controlled trials(RCTs) that compared MMF with other immunosuppressants in induction and mainenance therapy in adults with biopsy-proven LN in electronic database. The data were analyzed using the Cochrane Collaboration's RevMan 4.2.Results:Senventeen RCTs that included 862patients were included in the meta-analysis. Compared with CYC, Mycophenolate mofetil is better in inducting remission,in treatmenet for lupus nephritis, and offer similar efficacy in the risk of relapse and death et al in the treatment of lupus nephritis especially proliferative lupus nephritis. And MMF is as effective as CYC-AZA. Moreover, fewer patients receiving MMF developed leucopenia and hepatic dysfunction et al while diarrhoea appeared higher in the MMFgroup. Conclusion:MMF is better in inducting remission in treatmenet for lupus nephritis, and offer similar efficacy in survial and relapse as other immunosuppressive treatment in induction and maintenance therapy. And MMF may safer than CYC.
