ObjectiveTo analyze the clinical outcomes, sellting and rate of fusion fixed with dynamic and constrained anterior cervical plates.Methodsthe data of 79 cases undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion fixed with dynamic A group (38cases) and constrained B group (41cases) anterior cervical plates randomly were reviewed retrospectively. These cases were operated from July 2006 to December 2007.X-ray film were reviewed on 4weeks,8weeks,12weeks,6momths,12months in all cases.Resultfollow-up time was about 15.5 months areragely(12 to 18 months). There was a significant difference between preoperation and post-operation of both A group and B group(p<0.05) of clinical effect. However, there was no significant difference between A group and B group(p>0.05). The sellting of A group was more than B group(obviousely in two-level cases), there was no significant difference between A group and B group(p>0.05).The rate of fusion in A group had a significant difference compared with B group on 12weeks, there was no significant difference between A group and B group(p>0.05) at the ending of follow-up.ConclusionClinical outcomes and sellting of dynamic anterior plates is similar to the constrained anterior plates. The rate of fusion in A group was a significant difference compared with B group on 12weeks, There was no evidence to show that dynamic anterior plates got higher rate of fusion than constrained anterior plates in long term follow-up.
