ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical value of Choledo-choscopy for the treatment of pancreat-olithiasis.MethodsFrom January 2004 to September 2009, choledochoscopy was used in 9 patients with pancreatolithiasis during a dissection of the pancreatic duct combined with pancreato-jejunum Roux-en-Y anastomosis (choledochoscopy group). The data of these patients were compared with the data of 12 patients with pancreatolithiasis, who were treated by routine dissection of the pancreatic duct combined with pancreato-jejunumRoux-en-Y anastomosis from January 2003 to September 2009(Routine group).ResultsThe intraoperative blood loss and the postoperative rate of residual stones in the choledo-choscopy group were significantly less than those in the routine group [(233.33±33.3)ml vs(529.2±152.8)ml (t=-3.593, P=0.02); and (0%vs 41.7%, P= 0. 045)]. The postoperative rate of pain relief in the choledochoscopy group was higher than that in the routine group (88.9% vs 50.0%),however the difference was not significant (P= 0.159). In the choledochoscopy group,4 patients had diarrhea before the operation,3 of them achieved relief after the surgery (3/4), which was not significantly more than that in the routine group (3/7, P= 0.608).Before the operation, 8 patients in thecholedochoscopy group before the operation,2 of them achieved relief after the surgery (2/8)and 9 in the routine group had diabetic mellitus before the operation,2 of them achieved relief after the surgery (3/9) (2/8 vs 3/9, P=1.000).ConclusionsCholedochoscopy is effective for the treatment of pancreatolithiasis. The procedure can increase the rate of stone removal, decrease the intraoperative blood loss, and elevate the postoperative rate of pain relief.
