ObjectiveTo explort the depression status and its influencing factors in nephrologic patients without dialysis in order to look forward to wide-spread medical staff the importance of medical illness.MethodsA descriptive design was used to conduct this study.759 hospitalized patients in our hospital in July 2009-February 2010 were assessed by Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD)(17 items).According to score of the latter, patients were divided into two groups. The first group comprised 490 patients with HAMD score 0-17(absence of depressoin),whereas the groups included 269 patients scoring higher than 17(clinically assessed depression). The basic situation, the relavant laboratory tests and use of steroids in depressive patients and non-depressive patients were analyzed.Results35.44% of patients had HAMD score higher than 17,which means the prevalence rate of depression in these patients was 35.44%.There are not importment differences in educational level and income between depressed and non-depressed patients. There are significantly difference in age, blood type (A),bicarbonate and complement C3 between the depression group and the nondepression group (p<0.005,p<0.005,P<0.05,p<0.05).ConclusionsNon-dialysis kidney disease patients with depression were signicantly higher than the general population. There are not importment differences in educational level and income between depressed and non-depressed patients.Low bicarbonate levels, low complement C3 levels and A-type blood are risk factors for non-dialysis patients with depression, but the age is protective factor for depression.
