It has been shown that the expression of VEGF and its receptors VEGFR-1,2 increased during the development of liver fibrosis. But the distribution difference of the expression of VEGF and its receptors VEGFR-1,2 in hepatic vessels between Portal hypertension and normal liver is not reported.AaimsTo observe the distribution of VEGFR-1,2 of PHT in both hepatic arteries and portal veins. To elucidate intercoordination of VEGFR-1,2 in Portal hypertension vascular lesion development.MethodsA model of Thioacetamide induced Portal hypertension was used to observe the distribution of VEGFR-1,2 by means of immunohistochemistry.ResultsVEGFR-1,2 expression in both hepatic arteries and portal veins of PHT models significantly increased (P<0.05). There is no difference of VEGFR-1 expression between hepatic arteries and portal veins of PHT models. VEGFR-2 expression in portal veins of PHT models is markedly higher than that in hepatic arteries (P<0.05).ConclusionsThese results suggest that the intercoordination of VEGFR-1,2 play important role in the development of Portal hypertension vascular lesion, and may also suggest that the change of hepatic venous system are more involved.
