Objective:To evaluate the left ventricular structure and function in healthy adults aged 20~29 with the Cardiac Cine MRI (cardiac cine magnetic resonance imaging) and analyze the characteristic of left ventricular contraction as a whole. The quality of left ventricular mass and physiological factors which can influence of left ventricular were measured in quantity, in order to obtaining the normal range division with aged and providing a quantitative basis for left ventricular dysfunction determination.Material and methods:31 undergraduate and graduate students included (15 males and 16 females) were as the healthy volunteers, were divided into two groups:male and female. The volunteers aged from 20 years to 29 years, with an mean age (24.60±1.52) years. The volunteers all had past history of non-cardiovascular, no thyroid, kidney and other serious illness. All were good situation revealed by physical examination. The blood pressure measurements in consecutive double check were<140/90mmHg in quiet resting situation. A routine electrocardiogram revealed no obvious abnormalities. The study applied GE1.5T Sigma HD MR scanner, by a method of acupressure ECG-gated, respiratory gating techniques and 3D-FIESTA sequence, to acquire the left ventricular short axis image of heart electrical covered from the substructure to the apex. The images obtained were processed by the workstation (AW3.6) with the application of automatic detection and mouse hand-painted method. The endocardial and epicardial contours were outlined overall images. The overall index of left ventricular systolic function were measured automatically by special cardiac function measurement software. At test was used as the indicators to compare the male group with the female group. A multiple linear aregression was used to analyze factors of left ventricular mass. Results:1. Images clearly showed epicardial and endocardial contours, papillary muscles and chordae tendineae structure. A good contrast was formed in the heart chamber containing blood.2. A significant statistic difference (P<0.05) was showed in EDV, ESV, EDM, EDMI, and no significant statistic difference (P> 0.05) in SV, CO, CI, EF in comparison between the male and female group.3.The male EDM of normal range was (103~145) g, and EDMI normal range was (60~83) g; the female EDM of normal range was (78~91) g, and EDMI normal range was (54~63) g; BMI of body surface area was positively related to the EDM, while the sexual identity was in a negative correlation.Conclusion:1. 3D FIESAT sequence clear show heart wall motion and ventricular morphology. The quantitative parameters of the overall ventricular function can be obtained. By software post-processing, which reflect more situation of cardiac function as ventricular volume, ejection fraction and cardiac output.2. A gender difference in EDV, ESV, EDM, EDMI is shown in healthy adults aged 20-29. The measured data of male group are higher than those of female group. While cardiac function of SV, CO, CI, EF is no significant differences of these groups.3. BMI of body surface area of the healthy has impact on the EDM. The left ventricular mass and myocardial quality have difference between the male and female group.
