Clinical Study On Acute Lumbar Sprain Treated With Si-Mai-Tong-Qi Acupuncture Therapy

Acute lumbar sprain is a common disease. It is often caused by the damage of lumar's muscle,fascia,ligament and other soft tissue, which result from improper posture,overexertion,overrun activities,external collision and actions of imbalance. It usually happens suddenly. There is an obvious history of lumbar sprain. After injury, the waist is pain and limited to activity. It is easy to change to chronic lumbago, which is hard to heal, unless it is promptly treated. Since ancient times, the treatment of acute lumbar sprain has been various, and has gotten a satisfying effect. This study, based on traditional meridian, but different from its application mode, use the method of Si-Mai-Tong-Qi to open another window for treating acute lumbar sprain, so as to find an effective,simple,convenient and inexpensive way for it. Purpose:To explore the theory of Si-Mai-Tong-Qi and its clinical effect on acute lumbar sprain.Methods:Sixty patients with acute lumbar sprain were randomly divided into a treatment group of 30 patients, treated with Si-Mai-Tong-Qi acupuncture therapy, and a control group of 30 patients, treated with needling Yaotongdian。Observed and assessed two groups'clinical effect with the criterion of diagnoses and therapeutical effect of TCM diseases and symptoms, as well as the evaluation scales. Established a database for statistical analysis by SPSS 11.5.Results:The two groups both had significant total effect. Through analysis, the total effective rate of treatment group was 93.33%, higher than control group's 80.00%. There was a statistic significant difference between two groups'effect. And the therapeutical effect of treatment group was better than that of control group when the first treatment was finished. It demonstrates that the acupuncture therapy of Si-Mai-Tong-Qi does have treatment advantage. Conclusion:Si-Mai-Tong-Qi acupuncture therapy has the exact effect. It can relief patients of pain fast and effectively and expand the scope of activity. According to this study, it reveals that this acupuncture therapy not only inherits from QiHuang, but also it is an innovationist does improve the patient's symptoms, therefore has the value of promotion.
